About this event

"We need to talk..." Navigating Difficult Conversations

The difficult conversations have to happen, even if we resist. And, the longer we resist, the more difficult they become. Yet, there are some ways to prepare; from building relationships (both personally and professionally) that can withstand the hard conversations, to ensuring we are in the best frame of mind to enter the conversations. At this presentation, we will talk about what we can do to make the most of the tough stuff, and what to do when the conversation doesn’t go according to plan (spoiler alert: they rarely do!)

Our Presenter:

Jamie Velazquez currently serves as the Organizational Development Analyst at the Superior Court of California, County of Orange. With over 15 years of adult education, training, and leadership development experience in higher education and in the non-profit sector, she has led the development and implementation of numerous impactful programs, as well as engaging collegiate curriculums. She has a Master’s degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University, a Master of Education degree from the University of Southern California, and a Ph.D. in Education, with an emphasis in Leadership Studies, from Chapman University. Dr. Velazquez has presented across the country at various conferences, served as a keynote speaker, and provided numerous trainings to a variety of organizations on DEI, leadership, and trauma. She was recently appointed to the Judicial Council Trial Court Operations Curriculum Committee, for the Judicial Council of California. Jamie is also happily married and is the proud mother of two intelligent, creative, and active young men.

A continental breakfast and time for networking will be from 8:30am to 9:00am, and as an added bonus, an opportunity to learn more about Waymakers will be available to all attendees after the workshop.
